Suikerbrood

Using your usual technique for making yeast bread, make a dough of:

4 Cups flour (500 grams), I use whole wheat ground from soft white wheat
1 Cup liquid (I use warm water)
1/3 Cup oil or melted fat (I use canola oil)
2 eggs
yeast
cinnamon
ground ginger

You are better off with a somewhat wet / slack dough than a dry / firm one here. But it's a sweet bread, so you probably already knew that.

If you usually use salt in your bread, go ahead and put some in.

Let the dough rise about 45 minutes.

Fold into the dough 100 grams of sugar cubes. You can also smear the outside of the dough with more oil, melted butter, etc. Place in a bread pan. Allow to rise another 15 minutes or so.

Bake in a 400 degree oven (375 convection) until done.

Here is the Dutch/Frisian source I used (but you know me -- I made a bunch of changes): http://www.lekker-frysk.nl/suikerbrood.htm

This is the second time I made it: Suikerbrood
