Calling a Meeting

Statutory

NH RSA 91-A:2

Except in an emergency (where immediate action is necessary, in which case the chairman shall inform the public by whatever means are available), notice of the time and place of each meeting, including a nonpublic session, shall be posted in 2 appropriate places or printed in a newspaper of general circulation at least 24 hours, excluding Sundays and legal holidays, prior to the meeting.

From the by-laws

3.3: The board shall meet each month except for the months of July, August and December, at a regularly scheduled date. An annual meeting shall be held at the same time as the scheduled meeting in the month of April.

Parliamentary Authority

RONR (10th ed) pp. 89-90: A special meeting is held at a different time than any regular meeting, to discuss one or more items described in the call. Notice of the time place and purpose must be mailed to all members a reasonable number of days in advance.

In order to call a special meeting, the by-laws must (ours do not) include a section stating by whom such a meeting can be called, and the number of days' notice required.
