Known as "Flight" and "Birds and Stones," Bill made this sculpture for his BA Art Exhibition in 1964. The "bird" shapes he carved from laminated white oak planks. The "stones" that form the base he cut from cedar log, split and then then carved overall with a gouge to make texture. Last, he burned the surface, following up with steel wool and linseed oil until it had a nice lustre. |
