Peter and Tori

Peter and Tori live on San Juan Island, the largest of the San Juans Islands, in Friday Harbor. The island is accessible by small planes and boats but most people come on the Ferry from Anacortes. Anacortes is about a 80 minute drive from Seattle (depending on traffic) and the Ferry can take anywhere from 1 hour (the direct route) to much longer (if it stops at many of the other islands). You can check the ferry schedule here. The island gets busier during the summer as many rich people have their "summer homes" there. I think it is a fun place to visit but you have to like "remote living" to like it there. Coming to and from the island takes much planning as ferry traffic can sometimes be unpredictable. If the boat is full, you may find yourself waiting 3 hours for the next boat.

I have known Peter for more than 20 years as we lived in a large house together during the early 80's. Peter is a programmer and Tori is a web developer and their house is both their home and their offices. Many times, when Peter wants to ask Tori a question, he emails her even though she is just in the next room. They designed and built the house together and it has been a multi-year project (earn some money-work on the house, earn some money-work on the house) Peter is now working on building a wrap-around deck.
