John D's Pick Your Poison

My father was a drinking man
A philosopher extraordinaire'
He had his favorite sayings
And he use them with a flair

Ya got to pick your poison
No one gets out alive
Those are some bad hold cards
Only the strong survive

If you can't stand the heat in the kitchen
Then you had better pack your bags
The bigger they are the harder they fall
It's a good day to be alive

The devil made him do it
A bar of soap cleans even the poor
It's mind over matter
The big fish are caught from shore

It takes two to tango
Dead men tell no tales
Honesty is the best policy
Someday we'll all arrive

He was a legend in my mind
I love him with all my heart
This poem I dedicate to him
He was truly one of a kind
