Treed By A Turtle

Treed by a turtle was I
While searching the desert floor dry
For discoveries of beauty
Like spiders and such booty
When treed by a turtle was I

In a Joshua tree I climbed high
In hopes that this tortoise
Had travel not forage
On his mind so primitive and clear
When treed by a turtle was I

Oh how the time seemed to drag by
Beneath the desert blue sky
For you see this weird fellow
Was not hurried but mellow
When treed by a turtle was I

I watched as he slowly crawled by
For I was not sure
That it was he and the hare
That raced that day long ago
When treed by a turtle was I

I quickly raced home with a cry
Oh mother please save me
For a creature enslaved me
On that Joshua tree over there
When treed by a turtle was I

My mother was assuring
That migration was luring
For this kind vegetarian
With a beek and no teeth
When treed by a turtle was I

From Galapagos and Seychelles
To the deserts and valleys
This creature is
A mystery so pure
When treed by a turtle was I

The unexpected encounters
That time rediscovers
In the migration
Of tortoise and sand
When treed by a turtle was I

Treed by a turtle was I
While searching the desert floor dry
For discoveries of beauty
Like spiders and such booty
When treed by a turtle was I
