gust and kyra in frame The twins were born Thursday August 14th, 1997 early in the morning (Kyra at 3:54 am, Gust at 4:15 am). Gust was 17 3/4 inches and 4lbs, 15 oz. Kyra was 17 1/2 inches and 4 pounds even.

Life with Kyra and August is a constant adventure. At 4 years of age they are perpetual motion machines. They are also very differnt people. Physically (Gust out-weighs Kyra by 18 pounds and is 4 inches taller), emotionally (Gust is Mr. Sensitive while Kyra is tough and independent) and cognitively (Kyra's language and drawing skills are moving at lightning speed while Gust wants to count and practice his equasions.) August loves his cars and books. While he was a little slow out of the gate with his words, he has embraced reading with a flourish. He now recognizes many words and has a great understanding of the concept of counting. Kyra's memory and motor skills continue to amaze both her parents. Her balance and coordination often put her in precarious situations that make her mom and dad's hearts stop. She is a climber and loves to tight-rope walk along the back of furniture. Her ability to memorize music or books in one pass is also fun to watch. Her little mind is always going. At their 3 year check-up Kyra came in at 45% for height and 15% for weight. Gust came in at 80% for height and a whopping 95% for weight. Not bad for using a normal chart and not adjusting their statistics using their preemie status. Who knows where they will hit this month when they go in as four-year-olds. They love their mom and dad and are very happy little folks. And very busy little folks.
