Chester is about 10 years old, a Maine Coon who shares that breeds' tendency to be a one-person cat and somewhat aloof at that. We think that Chester is pleased that we provide him with a great large yard to spend most of the summer in. We know that he is fond of our neighbor Mary, since he spends much of his time on her balcony perusing his kingdom!
Mr. Murphy joined the family five years ago. He was five years old then, left at the Progressive Animal Welfare Society by his family when they "moved into an apartment". He's a fine guy, if, like most Spaniels, a bit clingy (we often refer to him as Velcro-Dog). PAWS has a great home page - that features the many strategies they are trying in order to become an effective no-kill shelter - like a "virtual shelter" page, pics of their adoptable animals, and a behavioral call in line to help owners resolve problems and avoid giving up their pet.
Mr. Willie joined us at the Woodinville Basset Bash in 1995. He was in placement with Alexa Paul, who coordinates Basset Rescue of Washington and is an all-around great person. Technically, Willie came home with us as a foster placement - but ha! he knew how to work the system. It was only pride that kept us from calling Alexa and announcing our permanent intentions for the first three days!
Miss Daisy the Dominatrix Dog is truly the boss of the dog pack - but in her more playful moments has a fondness for harvesting carrots directly from the garden and running through the yard with their leafy green tops hanging neatly out of her mouth!

Hi, folks,
If you visited before and couldn't see the dogs and cat, I'm sorry...and I think I have it fixed now! Thanks for your patience - hope you like our pack.
Sylvie
Hi, Your page looks great! I got the address from the Basset-l list. Visit my page if you wish (it needs to get more hits) at http://arachnid.colgate.edu/efrasch/ I hope you like it; it is still under construction. Your bassets are great looking!!! Bye for now, --Tripp
Hi Sylvie and friends! This is Jennifer from i-barc and Noses-l. I am proudly owned by Jenny Beagle. My husband and I just love this puppy. We both have rather stressful jobs, and it's so nice to come home to some unconditional love and snuggles. Sometimes I think Jenny should be called Velcro-Dog! Jennifer
Hi, Sylvie- You know me from noses-l too. I'm Roxie's mom. My husband has been suggesting that we do a web page, but I'm not convinced. You have alot of good places to "go to".
I am going to explore the Quaker section. My grandfather was a Quaker. I hardly know anything about him because he left when my Mom was 2 yrs old. (That was 78 yrs age!) The men in his family were all named Friend S--- Rutherford. He was Friend Sanders Rutherford. He and Grandma lived in Albert Lea, Minn, San Antonio, Tex and St. Louis, Mo.
Roxie sends an AROOOOO to your family. I was visitor #74 today. Hope you have LOTS of people stop by.
Ellen
Silvie, What a gorgeous family!!!! Great home page. Someday we'll get one and all the world will see our basset Sophie (aka Monster dog or MonnnyMon) and Gigi the mixed breed rescue dog.If we only had room for more! We'll look forward to stories about your "family" on the basset-l.
Jan & Kevin owned by Sophie & Gigi
Sylvie - I came back to see the Mr. Willie and Miss Daisy pics. They look mahvelous!! I hope the other Basset-L and Droolers show up to see the pics, too. Hawthorne sends an AROOOOOO to Willie, Daisy, Murphy (the bassetwannabe) and a playful chase for the cat (he thinks they'll play with him but they usually hiss at him and run away - oh, well).
Ann and Hawthorne in Atlanta, GA
your family sounds quite similar to ours. my partner leslie and i have 4 cats, elenor the matriarchial tabby, sherman a tuxedoed boy who has fufilled his destiny of being named after the tank, sassy a grey sweetie, the most independent of the crew and theo the black, baby devil cat. then of course there is our basset norman who we also got from alexa in april of 95. he has since become the light of my life. i cannot ever imagine being without a basset. and finally sadie a black lab/britney spaniel mix who is going to develop an ulcer one of these days if she doesn't stop worrying about all of us so much. we also seem to spend a lot of time vacuming and the new pet store that moved in to the neighborhood was quite delighted to meet us and ours. thanks muchly for yor page. ots always wonderful to see other families who are as inundated with fur as we are.
Hello, In our family, although there is a joint ownership our animals have a tendency to supervise one human on a more regular basis. Sunshine, for example, is a yellow labrador who was found abandoned with her mother Brook in a woodlot, spends her time training Katherine to throw tennis balls frisbies or whatever. Brook a chocolate lab has convinced Salem that she really is a lap dog even though she weighs about 70 lbs Salem is also supervised by Booker, an 18 year old quarter- horse who is finally teaching him to ride without a bridle. Rascal, a cat of the Jellicoe breed, rules the household, and shares training duties of Judy with Jackson a 17 year old paint horse who gives us all lessons in grace and good will. Thank you for your web site it was a pleasure to visit.
Salem Joseph
Mr. Willie is fantastic! So much personality in one face. Congrats on the page, it is very nice and a pleasure to visit. Best wishes, Chip Curley (Katies & Gingers Dad) Katie's Basset Hound http://www.nashville.com/wws111/ginger.htm
Great page! My Max has the exact faciaal expresion as Mr. Willie, usually it's the "I'm busy sleeping don't bother me" look.
Sylvie, I LOVE IT! What a great family! Our home is dedicated to the comfort and convenience of our own beasts -- cats Brazen, Mom, Whimsey, O.C., Scruffy (who were almost all strays before adopting us) and the dogs, Rolf (the Vizsla), Maxx (the Brittany, a true cheerleader of the canine world) and Ginger (a Corgi/Cocker mix from the pound). We have "fur bunnies" big enough to put on a leash! Sharon
Hello Sylvie from another member of your Quaker Women list. My husband and I have a love for large dogs. We got Mischief, our almost 5-y-o black lab when she was a puppy. She has become exclusively my dog, because I let her cuddle up to me on the sofa or in the bed after DH goes to work. Macintosh, our golden retriever, joined us 5 months ago. He will be 2 in August and we hope age cures his attention deficit disorder! He's Bob's dog, which is good, because he's taller than me on his hind legs (and stronger, too!). Obedience school is in his near future. Until then, we'll try to keep the dog hair tumbleweeds out of the house and further ponder asking WWF to sponsor these two - when they wrestle, Mac tries to pin Miss by sitting on her chest!
Saw you note on Basset-L, we had to visit. Great page and love the links.
Sylvie, great pictures. I have read on the Basset-l how great your home page is and I agree. I am hoping to have a home page set up also in the near future. I want to call it the home of XANADU.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
Add Amy to your page.....?

Great page Sylvie! I'm on basset-L too and i finally got around to checking out your pics. Mr. Willie looks very similar to my Shorty. They also seem to share similar interests (he,he). We have 2 cats and 2 bassets, all but one are rescue babies.
Jennifer in Atlanta
This is wonderful! The pix are great and I love the expressions on those faces! I also saw your homepage listed on Basset-L. I shall be back!
Thanks for sharing your wonderful kids!

Hi, i think that Willie has the look "are you talking to me?" just as our basset named Orvar and he is allmost black, and lives in city of Stockholm Sweden, and at week-ends at the country. Best love, and regards all basset-lovers!!!
I just love your pictures of the hounds. Patty & Smuckie
I finally saw your page and fell in love with that face (Willie)! I've added your page to my links.
Great page, Sylvie. We are owned by twoo bassets, Maude and Dudley. They have both of us working all day while the sleep in basset grandeur and laziness. They make it up to us when we get home with lots of love and lurps. They even allow us give them lots of bellyrubs. (no tummies at our house). Keep up the good work.
Hello! We have a Red and White Field Basset Hound Stud with papers looking for girlfriends. Can send picture if you have avalible girlfriend. Makes cute babys. Love, Bogart McGee
I was so thrilled to have been told about your website! I will be a 1 yr. old on Monday and am hoping for a big blow out of a party with my big brother Frisky (who is a 7 yr. old terrier mix from the pound), and my MUCH older sister Kitty (she's 17). I'm sure they have something wonderful planned. I LOVE to wrestle with Frisky, but sometimes he gets WAY too excited and tries to dance with me. He has no clue I've been spayed and he's been neutered, but he sure is fun!
Best woofs, Stormy
I'm owned by 3 wonderful bassets: Dottie, Shelby & Gus. Dottie is 1 1/2, Shelby is 1 and Gus is about 3. We aren't sure on Gus' age as he was a rescue. Two owned us, and three definitely rules it! Wouldn't have it any other way.
May aaaarrrroooos! Janet & the kids
I work at the Quality Inn Waddling Dog in Victoria,B.C. Canada. We have a very unusual front desk clerk who answers to the name of John. He stands about 1 foot 4 inches. He weighs 55 lbs,has the longest ears you've ever seen, and his nails leave much to be desired. If you haven't guessed it already he is our resident WADDLING DOG! John the basset hound lives at the front desk and always greets our overnight guests with a waddle and a bark!If you would like more info on the hotel, visit our web site at http://www/vvv./com/~qualityinn/ or call us toll free from N.America at 1-800-567-8466.
Great page guys!! I stumbled onto your page searching for info. on the basset breed. I'd like to give a good home to a basset hound in need of rescue, but am having trouble finding a "rescue league" in my area. I'll keep searching though. It looks as if you have a great extended family!! Keep up the great pics!
We sell quality golden retriever puppies to loving families. Since they are purebred, there on the expensive side, $500 for boys and $600 for girls. Ready next September in Sonoma County area.

Hi Sylvie... just want to stop by and see you babies! Beautiful. Queen Tootsie & Lady Bea's Dad .. dalbert
HI! I love your page, you have a beautiful family. I am a very proud mommy of my baby basset (4 months) Dudley. And three cats who each think they own the house, Sophie, Simon, and Sudz. I just recently lost a beautiful inteligent beagle, who I still consider a part of my family, his name was Riley. We almost lost Dudley as well to parvo, but with love and care we pulled him through it. He is now a healthy 15 and a half pound puppy, and getting into plenty of trouble.:o) He knows he is loved. Well, again I loved your page. Thanks for letting me get a chance to share my family with you. Take care and God bless.
Loved the pix! I'm waiting to see Phoebe and Molly Pup!
Hi there from Olympia,washington...Loved all your animal pictures..especially the bassets. I have always bassets and just lost our third one, Helga. She was thirteen and just a sweetie. Her favorite things to do were sleep in the bed under the blankets. She just snored away. Then she would get up and bark at the kids going to school and holler at the garbage man. She died at home surrounded by all those who loved her and is buried in the backyard in a very special place. Life without her is now so dull. Her favorite food was gourmet cookies her dad bought her. She would not eat the packaged kind, just the fresh baked. But such a small inulgence for such big hearted gal. So for us, it is now time to try to find another basset. No other breed will do.
Hi, I'm the mommy of three adorable babies: Tanit, a rescued Cocker Spaniel; Van Dyke, a rescued Great Dane; and McCumhaill, a Basset Hound (and my only "planned" child!). My world revolves around my "babies"; and most of my friends consider me slightly "battie" when it comes to them. Because I work, often longish days, they usually have a sitter who comes in to take care of them. Even on the days the sitter or nanny doesn't come they have someone to let them out for an hour at noontime. They have never had to be kenneled, which makes them very happy. I would love to hear from other mommies and daddies who are as much in love with their "kids" as I am.
I really enjoyed your page! I am owned by 9 cats-Sebastian, Misty, Milo,Onyx, Azreal,Munchkin, Asia, Mickey and Mocha (I had 10 but I had to put my poor Bozzie to sleep) and I have two dogs-Butch, he is a beagle mix and my new Bassett hound puppy Lady Daizzy May she is 6 months old. I love animals. Half of my cats I got from work. I work at an animal hospital in Atlanta!
Love the basset photos. I have been searching for days for anyone who has a "BAGLE" thats what i just got. She is half beagle half basset but looks like a basset only she is not going to get very big. she is 5 months and about 20lbs. Any one else have one of these? She is Darling!! And her knew brothers and sister love her, they are 2 standard poodles and a brown porch dog. Great web site!!
Dodger and Maggie send big ARRRROOOOS to their buddies to the North! Great page -- but why no pictures of Molly -- afraid we'll all come steal her? I keep thinking that in my spare time I'll get a web page up with Dodger and Maggie and maybe even Maverick -- until then it's fun to come across those we know!
We are owned by three bassets, Max, Willie (we also call him Mr. Willie, he's much too dignified to answer to just Willie)who is actually named after both of my great-grand fathers(Wilhelm),and Emma. Emma was a rescue 2 years ago and is also the leader of the pack even though she is the youngest and newest Basset. It's amazing and comical to see how she bosses the two males. Mostly, they like to sleep, eat, and go on walks. We recently moved to the country and they cannot believe that live rabbits are just outside their door. Your web page is great, loved the pictures. From the content, it seems that you live in Washington. We live in Ferndale, just north of Bellingham. If anyone knows of basset activities/organizations in our area, please e-mail us.
I love the picture of Mr.Willie, he is just to adorable!! I have a dog myself, Oackley's her name and I love her with all my heart. She was 12 weeks when I got her, I was 12 myself and dieing to get a dog. I spent all my life saving's on her and think the world of her. And she knows who her Mommy is that's for sure. I love her lots and just couldn't resist putting it all over the web! Oackley will be 3 on March.27.

Please help us.. :-)
Thank you, IMANI
Great family. I am owned by 2 cats, who I really do love a great deal. Samson and Delilah. Samson thinks he is a mountain lion, and Delilah really believes she is a panther (she is all black with yellow panther eyes). Both are inside cats so you really can imagine what kind of circus I live in. I was recently struck down with a devastating illness that did not allow me to leave my home very often. My cat's hardly ever left my side, if they did I would just have to call out "cat" and both would come running. During this time Samson even tried to answer the phone, they have helped me cook, clean, and bathe myself. I have been needed half to death (they do that thing with their front paws) I have been cuddled to sleep and kissed awake, I have had my tears dried with fur (that gets messy). They helped me hold the book up that I was reading, and stayed to watch all the chic flicks, and did'nt even try to hog the popcorn. With cats like these who needs anyone else. My cats rock!!!
I am looking for a toy poodle terrier puppy that is black
My name is ReGina and I am the founder/chairperson of an animal rescue called Whiskers and Tails. We started this organization to help the many feral cats in our area. We find them, rescue them, have them altered and begin the long task of helping them to trust humans again. These wonderful little guys share our home with us and many an hour is spent just playing games and trying to scratch flattened ears. Our programs promotes humane treatment of animals and spay/neuter to save lives. We love animals here and hope that when you visit our site you will love them too. http://www.orgsites.com/mo/whiskersandtails2/
I recntly adopted a pomerian from a shelter and now we found out he has heartworms and I hear the treatment can be very fatal, the dog is estimated to be around 3-5 years old and was stray dog, so thats all the information we have.. The vet said best option would be the treatmant so the blood test showed many larva in the bloodstream... Any advice from anybody who has ever had to deal with this before, I am deciding if the monthly oral treatmenats would work or if I should go ahead with the expesenive tretmeant that can be fatal..*which might be the only option* any sdvice would be wonderful.. PLEASE feel free to email me at allisonrn2005@yahoo.com thanks for your time and help.. hopefully the best descion can be made.... GREAT WEBSITE!!!! wonderful comments... the Poms named is Cody and he is a minature weighs abour 9lbs...
Paul Sorvino (the famous actor) and his daughter, Amanda Sorvino, have started a dog rescue/adoption organization called DogFellas (remember the movie, GoodFellas?). The Sorvinos are very kind and quite eager to find good homes for big dogs. If you have an interest in adopting a "gentle giant", then please look up their website: www.dogfellas.net.
I am assisting Amanda with the incorporation of DogFellas as a 501(c)(3) non-profit in the state of PA. If you can help, I would be glad to hear from you. My e-mail address is estephon@enter.net.
Thanks, Ed Stephon
