BRANDEE'S POEM

The year was 1989
Montanan's were celebrating 100 years of Statehood
We had taken the day to ride
With the Centennial Wagon Train in our neighborhood

It was way after 6 that evening
When we pulled into our ranch yard
Before unloading the old geldings
We better check Katie "B" dance card

Old Kate was standing on the south side of the barn
Lying under her neck was a dandy
A dark sorrel roan colt
A filly we now call Centennial Brandee

Three years are now past, for our Brandee
She carries a freeze brand, N Hanging P, right thigh
Brandee is now saddle broke
And riding her is a mighty high

Brandee and the N hanging P horse bunch
Are strange to Montana's cowboy ways
These horses all are not your hard trotting kind
And their traveling ways are not seen on most Montana days

The N Hanging P horses and crew
Have no need for hard riding courses
For you see Brandee and the rest of the bunch
Are smooth gaited - MISSOURI FOX TROTTING HORSES
