I first saw Opera in 1987, when Charlie Heatly and I took a trip up to London from Eton one evening to see Hansel and Gretel at the English National Opera in Covent Garden. Though we were up in the Gods, I was nonetheless impressed by the scope and vision of the production and of the artform. Despite a memorable visit to East Berlin's state opera soon after unification, I was only able to get back to the opera regularly when I moved to Seattle. I became a subscriber to the Seattle Opera in 1997, and have been ever since. This page lists performances I've seen, with comments on some of the more recent ones.
