• Committed to preserving Antarctica's pristine ecology, Henson closely monitors humans on the frozen continent to assure their compliance with environmental protection treaties.

• Antarctica is the coldest and driest continent on Earth, a deep freeze that holds countless secrets.  Most of the Antarctic ice has been there for millennia.  Antarctica has two major ecosystems: the extreme terrestrial system of snow and glaciers, and the polar sea, one of the world's most productive oceans.  The nations with research bases on the continent closely control everything from wildlife protection to the foods that are allowed in.

• Henson originally lived in the Arctic and helped the I.W.G. protect the northern ice cap.  The constant ecological battle depressed him and he started to believe that all humans were bad humans.  When his cousin Peary joined up with an unmatched enthusiasm, Henson took the opportunity to relocate.  So Henson moved south – way south – to the quiet solitude of Antarctica.

• Henson is a solitary hunter, watching the researchers and other visiting humans.  He sees some hope for the species in their actions, but will swiftly remove any one who abuses the ecosystem.  A powerful swimmer, Henson often works as a valuable link between I.W.G. waterborne and terrestrial teams during large-scale engagements.  During his patrols of the southern latitudes, Henson found Makutu in New Zealand and introduced her to the I.W.G.  The two quickly became fast friends; Henson enjoys Makutu's upbeat nature and she can relax around him with no expectations.  Besides, Makutu laughs whenever she thinks of a polar bear at the South Pole.
