The Grille Frames being assembled. All corners are miter cut at 45°. The Speaker Boards are inset in the Enclosures 3/4". The frames are 3/4"x1-3/4" maple, which are cut and fitted to fit very snugly into the recess, projecting 1" out from it. 1/4"x3/4" radiused molding is glued to the frames, which cover the edges of the enclosure and are flush with the outer surfaces. Here, and in the shot above, 1/4" 1/4 round molding is glued to reinforce the joint between the frames and the edge molding. Small plywood corner braces reinforce the corners. Note that the Frames and Edge Molding form a 45° inset in sides and corners for the finished covering, to add some depth to the appearance . |
