This is the 1 KW AC/DC Genset I built for my MaXum.
It mounts into the top of the 4D Aux. battery bank box. On the sides of
the unit, you can see the A/C connection on the left, the D/C connection
on the right, and the flexible SS exhaust pipe in front. The electrical
connection midway on the left side is the switch control for shutting down
the GENSET from inside the cabin. The rope starter handle and primer bulb
can be seen on top.
Also visible in this shot is the Hot Coolant Pump and
piping of the CABIN AND COCKPIT HEATER SYSTEM.

This is the Coleman PowerMate 1000 Generator used in the conversion. |

The GENSET was built using the guts from a Coleman PowerMate 1000 generator. This small, 2 cycle generator is unique amongst similar units due to it's high (75A) DC output capability. The enclosure is aluminum, and was dimensioned and designed specifically for installation in the top of the 4D battery box in the MaXum engine bay. It is lined with tar panel sound deadener. The shield seen installed on the right covers the cooling vents, and is also lined. It reduces the net sound level substantially. The access port for the fuel tank, fuel tank vent fitting, and the D/C port can be seen in the left photo. The unit can only be refueled when removed from the engine bay. The GENSET runs about 6 hours on the 2 L. fuel supply. |
| An Electric starter for the GENSET is currently in the works |
