This is the collapsable COCKPIT STEP I built. It is made from 1/2" plywood with a heavy vinyl covering and aluminum edge strips. I built it because it is very difficult to access the fordeck though the center windshield due to the deep stairwell. The U shaped lock pin inserts through the step panel, and into the vertical brace, going through the aluminum edging. This joint is very rigid, and the STEP cannot collapse during use. It can be broken down instantly, if neccessary, for access to the forward cabin.

Here, the lock pin has been removed, and the Cockpit Step breaks down. The step panel folds flat against the cabin door well, and the vertical brace panel folds down against the deck.

The cabin door opens as usual, and was spaced out 1/4" by putting pads under the hinges. It folds flat against the step panel.
