BIMINI TOP CONSTRUCTION

I had the blank for the Bimini top sewn by a local tailor shop, as I didn't feel competent to sew such a large panel. It has a 46" center and 2 -23" side panels. These were joined with a flat felled double folded seam, which is extremely strong. It is 125" long. The material is #4628 Toast Sunbrella.
Assembly work begins. Here, you see why an 8' square table is necessary for working the canvas.
After much fitting, cutting and sewing, the Bimini Top is finished. I won't go into specific construction details, as this would require many pages and dozens of pictures to address properly. There are a number of good books available on marine canvas work, which will provide sufficient guidance.
The top has zippered sleeves for the front, mid, and rear main bows, so the Top can be easily installed and removed from the frame. It carries the upper zipper halfs for the windshield and front side curtains. The rear of the Bimini Top carries the zipper half for attachment to the Radar Arch.
