Welcome To SchwenkNet
Schwenk Coat of Arms
This homepage is dedicated primarily to those living descendants of Conrad Schwenk (1601-1686), weaver, of Laichingen, Baden-Wuerttemberg in So. Germany. By far the majority of those still reside in their homeland.
America is the home of perhaps roughly 200 living descendants of Conrad Schwenk (1601) with that surname, but there are of course many more of his descendants with other names, e.g., Baumeister, Schroer, Steward and Timmer.
Again in approximate figures, there are some 9,000 Americans who bear this family name. We members of the Conrad Schwenk lineage or "tribe" represent, then, a very small percentage of the Schwenks in America and are relatively new, having "landed" here in the middle of the last century.
It is hoped, however, that this homepage will be of interest to all persons bearing this family name (and perhaps others).

Danke schoen!

SCHWENKNET NEWS:

8/2002: Welcome BACK to the SchwenkNet everyone! Yes, after 4 years of sitting idle inside my trusty old macintosh, it's back on the internet for all to enjoy! This was my first website which was dedicated to my family history and my Father, who gathered all this vast information. Back then, we found a lot of Schwenk relatives with this site... maybe now we can find some more?

For those of you that remember the good ol' SchwenkNet, this is pretty much how it looked back around 1998. Some things have changed though: Along with the homepage being cleaned up, I've speeded up the site with much improved handwritten HTML code as well as creating smaller graphic files for the entire site. You'll still find a lot of weird text formating in some places (because I didn't know what I was doing back then), but there's not much I can do short of rebuilding the whole thing. I've also removed the "Gallery" section (not that any of you would notice this. It was just a bunch of goofy computer art my Dad and I created long ago. I need some extra room on my server for other things so this section just had to go. Sorry Dad!). Other than that, everything else is just as it was back in the last century.

The SchwenkNet is STILL a great source of information for descendants of Conrad Schwenk, whether you are researching your name, reading colorful stories of the Schwenk family in the 1600's, or just having fun listening to those old midi's. Enjoy, and don't forget to visit my Father's website, www.SchwenkIdaho.com, for the latest and greatest information. Your Webmaster
