This trip was a tame one as compared to some of Mark's and my past adventures. We just planned about a 4 day trailer camping trip with some fishing thrown in for added pleasure.
In addition, we planned a visit with our niece, Kamela, who had recently moved to Anchorage for her job. Our sister, Wendy, also was visiting Kamela at this time. So we planned a "family reunion". A little coordination of vacation schedules made it possible.
We did have that reunion, but unfortunately, Mark was feeling somewhat under the weather shortly after that. He did get some medication, which started to clear things up. However, we postponed our departure to give him time to recuperate. We didn't have any real schedule for this trip anyway, and being away when sick is not a good thing.
Due to these circumstances, the trip turned into the reunion, 3 days to get ready (recuperate), and a 3 day camping trip. Since Mark was not at 100%, we did not do any fishing either.
Now, I really don't care if we fish or not. I just like to take a trip away from the maddening crowd and spend some time with Mark. This was accomplished. So for me, this was a very nice trip. I'm sure Mark enjoyed it too, but I think he would have enjoyed it more if his physique had been at full capacity.
The trip was to the Kenai Peninsula and to a state camp ground that is kind of out of the way. To get there you go west from Soldatna, right through the town of Kenai, and right to the end of the road. This places you at the Captain Cook State Park, which overlooks Compertz Channel, which is at the end of Cook Inlet. It's one of the nicest camp sites I have ever been to. In addition, the weather cooperated, 60's and 70's without any rain. The natural Alaska bug infestation seemed lighter too, which made it even nicer.

These pictures were taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ10 digital camera. It has 4 mega pixels with a Lumix lens. The camera is circa 2004. It has a 12x optical zoom and a 3x digital zoom. I have the digital zoom turned off. The millimeter equivalent of the optical zoom is about 35 wide to 450 telephoto continuous zoom, all with the original lens. It really pulls the images in close.
The resolution of the pictures when taken was 2304 by 1728. However, those chosen for this internet show were reduced to one quarter their original size. This reduces the quality a bit, but the download time is reduced considerably. I still have the original versions on my computer.
This web page was created by hand, including all the sub-window processing. I did not use any web creation tools. After all, it's my profession.
