The Journal Of BubbleLand Studies Textnote ============================================= Wolf Messengers In The Queendom:jn04txt2.txt KinterSylvanian Wolves have long prided themselves in their speed, and their ability to sing and share song with their comrades. Naturally, they came to the forefront as messengers of the Queen, and were important in expanding the reach of Queen zzzzz'Drom and the Queens before her. However, they had one drawback. As singers, they often changed the songs subtly as they ran, at first, for aesthetic reasons. Over centuries of service, however, they had become bolder and bolder in these changes. Orders from the Queen could leave Hive Home with acid tones, and be sung into praise by the time they reached the Hives of the Queen's sisters. Taxes on the Beasts could be sung into taxes on Humans, as well. This flaw was recognized by the Queens, so important proclamations and laws were laboriously scented into hard beewax cakes, and carried in small head hives strapped to a messenger wolf's head. But this takes time--time dependent messages are still carried in wolf song, and their content is at the mercy of the Beasts. An uneasy alliance exists between Beasts and Bees, one in which the Queen winks the antenna at Wolf changes of her tax rates and other song orders, often at the expense of the Humans. This corruption of the communication system is thought to have led to some of the unrest in the Human Enclaves. The speed of the wolf over the bee, allows the Queen to control wide areas of empire, and to enforce control of housing, breeding, and food production. The corruption of her communication is a price she is willing to pay, in her infallible wisdom.
