Independently created games I highly recommend:

Trollbabe – An innovated game, excellent for those who enjoy feeling like the hero of the story.

Sorcerer RPG - Ron Edward's landmark work, Sorcerer asks “How far will you go for your ambitions?” and lets you answer the question. It's engaging and intense – and that's not cover-blurb hype. Sorcerer is very flexible and has many setting applications. Here are two of them:

Charnel Gods – The Gods are dead, but they left these weapons lying around. What do you do with yours? By Scott Knipe.
Inside – In the Winter issue of Daedalus, Clinton Nixon presented an interpretation of Sorcerers as cyberspace hackers. Very cool – and free (though you still need Sorcerer to play.)

Prime Time Adventures - Play TV series style games, complete with Issues, Personal Sets, and Nemises. By Matt Wilson

My Life With Master - Does Igor ever get fed up running the Master's tasks? You bet. RPG by Paul Czege

Universalis – Collaborative story creation game. You put facts into play by spending coins; you earn coins by participating in conflict. Not quite an RPG, but very cool for a night's play.

The Riddle of Steel – Truly dangerous, man-to man combat that will set your hear thumping the first couple times, even if you're an old grognard. Deadlyness of combat is balanced by the bonuses Spiritual Attributes can earn when the conflict is important to the player.

Conan d20 - Mongoose Publishing's excellent adaption of my favorite S&S setting.
