In my mind there is nothing more beautiful than watching a boat running on the water at speed. To watch a hydroplane created from a dream and see it through the construction phase and the installation of the hardware and the engine is a process that I wish everyone could see. To see the boat hit the water for the first time is a celebration in itself. There is nothing that compares to seeing a hydroplane running at speeds with the sound of the engine and the roostertail flying. Going into the first turn and digging in the skid fin, throwing up a geyser of water is an awesome site. Now put six to eight of these crafts on the water at the same time with the goal of seeing who is the fastest is an experience that everyone should see and hear. Are you experienced? Below
is 5 photo galleries of shots I have taken through the years at various
race sites. Mostly around the northwest part of the United States. I
hope you enjoy the photos and somehow get the same feeling and love
that I have for this sport. It will never replace the feeling of being
at a regatta in person, but I hope that for some of you that have never
witnessed a hydroplane race, that maybe in the near future you will
attend one and see and feel what I do. |
