to my web site. Hope you enjoy your stay here and learn about me, my hobbies, boat racing, and enjoy some of my photographs.

I've had an interest in hydroplane racing my whole life with memories of sitting on the shore of Lake Washington in the early 70's waiting for the movement of the cranes and the rumble of the engines.

In 1983 I started photographing the unlimteds when I purchased my first 35 mm camera, a Minolta SRT 201 with a 80-200 mm zoom lens. In 1985 a high school friend bought an old 145 CI inboard hydroplane and I've been crewing or helping out and photographing in the inboard class ever since.

I sold my first photo to Ed Sims of his "Ed's Capade", 225/4 liter mod hydro in 1990 and since then have had orders from all levels of inboard racing and from all areas of the United States. From Russ Dodge and Bob Thorne of the 1.5 liter hydroplanes to Nate Brown and N. Mark Evans of unlimited fame.

My first published photographs were in 1994 when Jackie Leland requested use of a photo of the U-100 for the programs sold at each of the race sites. I've also been published in local (northwest) inboard programs and newsletters and in the "Thunder and Lights" program produced by the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum in 2001.

This past summer I was published in a nation quarterly magazine. The summer 2001 issue of "Unlimited Action, Adventure and Goodtimes", did a feature article on the 2000 San Diego race. I was contacted by the photo editor of the publisher of the magazine, Hachette, Philipacchi Magazines, about submitting photos for an article they were doing. They chose to use two photos. The first was of the U-6 Oh Boy' Oberto that I shot in Tri-Cities Washington in 2000. They used this photo for the 2-page title spread. The other was of the U-10 York that I shot in Seattle 1999.

I am still photographing all levels of inboard hydroplane racing as well as the vintage unlimiteds. My photos can be found on many other web sites which you will find links to on the links page.

I am married to my beautiful wife Kelly and have 2 sons and a daughter, who all are the joys of my life. My other interests include golf and skiing. I am a accomplished bowler with 2 sanctioned 300 games and a 299. I was also a national caliber springboard diver and competed against divers that became Olympic medalists. This propelled me into diving professionally in high diving shows where I performed death defying dives from the top of a 100 ft high diving tower, falling at 50 mph into a pool that was only 11 feet deep. I also performed as the spectacular "Captain Inferno" fire diver. Being totally engulfed in flames 30 feet off the water, it was quite an adrenaline rush. These shows are still being performed at many of the Six Flags amusement parks as well as part of Cirque De Soleil in Las Vegas.
