Dial-Up Settings

Checking the Settings on an Existing Connection

  1. Click on the Start button.
  2. Click on Settings and then Click on Control Panel. Start Menu
  3. Double Click on Internet Options. Control Panel
  4. Click on the Connections tab. Click once on Seanet to highlight it. Click on the Set Default button if Seanet isn't already your Default Connection. Mark the Option Always dial my default connection. Click on the Settings button. Check Win2000
  5. Uncheck all the boxes on this screen.
    Type your fully qualified username in the Username box.

    premier1.net username@premier1.net
    ncia.com username@seanet.com
    Type your password in the Password box. Leave the Domain field blank. Click on the Advanced button. Check Win2000
  6. These options are user preference. Click on the OK button when you are done. Check Win2000
  7. Click on the Properties button. Type in the full 10 digit Phone Number in the Phone Number field. Uncheck Use dialing rules. Check Show icon in taskbar when connected. Click on the Configure button. Check Win2000
  8. Maximum speed should be 57600 or less. If you are using a hardware modem leave the check boxes marked under Hardware features. If you are using a software modem (the modem name will usually say "Soft" "Win" or "HSF" in it) then uncheck all the Hardware features. Uncheck Show terminal window and Run script. Check Enable modem speaker. Click on the OK button. Check Win2000
  9. Click on the Options menu. These options are user preference. Check Win2000
  10. Mark Typical (recommended settings). Select Allow unsecured password. Uncheck Show terminal window and Run script. Check Win2000
  11. Select PPP. Make sure Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and Client for Microsoft Networks is checked. Click on the Settings button. Check Win2000
  12. Make sure all boxes are checked. Click on the OK button. Check Win2000
  13. Click once on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to highlight it then click on the Properties button. Mark Obtain an IP address automatically. Mark Use the following DNS server addresses. Preferred DNS server is 199.181.164.1. Alternate DNS Server is 199.181.164.2. Click on the Advanced button. Check Win2000
  14. Check all boxes on this screen. Check Win2000
  15. You can mark Search these DNS domains (in order) if you like and enter seanet.com. Check Win2000
  16. WINS addresses should be blank. Enable LMHOSTS lookup should be checked. Check Win2000
  17. Highlight IP security and click on the Properties button. Check Win2000
  18. Mark Do not use IPSEC. Click on the OK button and continue clicking on the OK buttons until you are all the way back to the Control Panel. YOU'RE DONE! Check Win2000
