Regions Of The Land

The west as I've know it
Has shown me many things
But most of all its expressions
From winter through the spring

During the coldest part of winter
When snow is on the fur and pines
I think of the cascade mountains
And all the frozen water lines

In the awakened spring
I think of meadows filled with flowers
Beside the forest paths
Where I've spent many hours

During the summer time
When it's 120 degrees in the shade
I often think of the Mojave Desert
A time for ice tea and lemonade

In the fall when leaves are changing color
I think of the mushroom infested hills
In the Olympic National Forest
Hunting shrooms brings many thrills
