About the Field Guide for Freshwater Invertebrates

How do I get a copy of the field guide?
Click here to see the guide. To copy it, simply hit print in your browser. Or save it to a file, modify it if you like and then print it from the application you used to modify it.

How big is it?
The guide includes 10 .gif files that average about 35 KB each. They are a little large because I saved them at 300 dpi (rather than the recommended 72 dpi). At 300 dpi the resolution is much better when you print the guide from your computer. You can tell your browser not to load the images if you want to look at the guide first; that way you don't have to wait so long for the images to load.

When you print the guide, it should be 6 pages long. I have tried to format the guide so that page breaks fall in reasonable places. Please let me know if the formatting doesn't work when you print it out.

How is the file formatted?
The text and format is in .html. The 10 figures are .gif files. If you want to download the guide and modify it, be sure to download all the .gif files as well.

May I copy the guide?
Feel free to download, copy, or distribute this guide for educational purposes but not for resale.

Funding was provided through a King County Regional Water Quality Block Grant (Seattle, WA). The guide was developed in 1998 for volunteers in the Pacific Northwest; therefore, the invertebrates illustrated are common to this area and the site descriptions may be specific to this region.
